Passion Vs. Ambition

Engineering has it all. We never thought of taking engineering so damn seriously when it came to giving Vivas, submitting assignments for which people stay awake the whole night and then again run in the morning for college. My case won't be much similar but when it comes to exams, it does. Months after joining college people realize how much efforts we need to give to just clear the exams. But hardly anyone finds a way out of the trap the reason being KT's being put on students. We say 'tis the season to be jolly but the whole month's being occupied by exams. Hardly we find time to come out of our busy schedules to spend some time with friends.
You take the book in the hand but deep inside your mind there's something you remember you used to do for your past times which was your passion but people tend to give it the name of hobby. But Alas,'Exams',the word that creeps into the minds taking away all those plans you had made. Even I have one but can't pursue till the exams get over and till I clear all those papers. Till we were kids we had many plans which we thought would succeed if we solely put our attention on it. But leaving behind academics won't help,we realize now. India is one country where we can say all the importance has been put on academics. A student goes through all the pressures of studies when his/her mind is capable of doing something other than excelling in academics. Academics has never been pursued in its true sense.
A guy or a girl knows in which field he or she can he excel in life. But now its academics that we thrive upon. Its true that we can't do without education. But mentality is what that sucks. You have a child, grow him up, send him to school and then college, look out for a job expecting a good post in the organisation he or she is working for, get his/her marriage done, bring kids to birth blah blah blah... Everything's fine till the school and college, career stuff but what has been missed?? It was your passion. Some may say cycling, painting, riding bikes, driving cars etc. I have one and that's Drumming. Though I cant call it my passion or hobby coz I don't have drums to play but I can say one thing that I would seriously devote time to it once I get those. Countries abroad can be seen with people approaching various stuff like street dancing, playing baseball, football on streets, riding a dirt bike, being adventurous, Bungee jumping etc. They have all those things that can make their time spend for good. Some of them pursuing it as a career. You have many options open to pursue your passion. But there's one question why are we solely dependent on academics to such an extent that we just keep pressurizing students who are not that good in academics? The reason is simple, some people here are too damn narrow minded. They can't afford to think anything beyond academics. Now there's one thing we all can do. Get yourself the best of education coz nothing can be done without it and then pursue your passion after having raised funds for it through the jobs you get. This is the only way out to live your dreams. Its same as removing corruption from the system. Contest the election, get into the system, rule out corruption.
My dream is to be there in the band drumming all the way to albums and concerts. Simple but true. Though it may sound silly at this point of time. Even I felt a bit silly. But all this started when Nikhil had plugged earphones deep inside my ears way back when we were in junior college. My tastes changed with regards to music. And one day thought of forming a band with him,Anuj and me. It all sounds pleasant at this very point of time when exams are on head and you get time to release some stress. But all this won't be possible until we get the best of academics. We can then raise funds for ourselves, our passions.
Ambition is what we used to think of when we were innocent kids. Now its all dominated by academics. If there's no academics there's no way out. No ambition,no passion. You are handicapped then. Its true. But not completely. All the worldly pressures under which we are forcing ourselves to become an engineer or a doctor, an architect etc. would obviously force us to leave behind our interests. But pursuing it keeping career the main priority would help in planning for approaching our personal interests.
Life is not simply living to eat or eating to live. Its about exploring the unexplored in you. Your passion, interest says it all. I believe we all are dead if we keep mum forcing ourselves to hide the inner soul. Let it out free. You have got more to do than the daily stuffs. Live the moment. Live life. Ending the topic with stress on the head for exams ahead...
